課程概述

語言在名詞化過程中,其語法結構經歷改變.名詞化長久以來在跨語言的語言類型學研究中扮演重要角色.在語言使用的過程當中,說話者往往藉由自己所主張的觀點,及與互動者之間的關係來建立立場 (stance). 立場的理解、語言的使用和社會層面緊緊相扣.語言奠基於具體的經驗,為了在當下的語境裡達到成功的社會互動,內容難免流於主觀.主觀性 (subjectivity) 對於語言的使用與變遷,及學術論文之鋪陳,扮演了舉足輕重的角色。 

課程目標
名詞化在詞彙的層次上是將動詞或形容詞轉換成名詞的過程。就構詞學而言, 名詞化的標記可涉及衍生詞綴。課程涵蓋內容為詞彙層次上的名詞化(lexical nominalization), 句法上的名詞化 (syntactic nominalization)及名詞化的認知語用功能. 因名詞化具提高詞彙密度的功能,故將特別著重其認知語用中的訊息編排(information packaging)與詞彙密度(lexical density)的關係.另外,名詞化之回指功能,可增強文章連慣性;名詞化將動作和過程視為抽象、分離人類活動的物體,因而讓文句更加客觀,可用來呈現客觀語氣對於文意的互動性也有一定的貢獻,科學學術寫作重視客觀性(Hyland 2001), 善加利用名詞化之特質可用於論文寫作之教學。
